I would like to extend my thanks to all of the people in Somerville who showed their trust and support by casting their votes for me on Election Day? I came to America as a teenager, a refugee from political violence and civil war so perhaps you can understand how grateful I am to this country for granting me citizenship and the opportunity to participate in the democratic process, and to the Somerville residents who gave me their sign of approval and confidence, their vote.
As a businessman, counselor, youth worker and pastor I have been deeply involved in some of the specific issues that concern us all, but this was my first opportunity to talk with and learn from people across the entire city. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to talk with me and share their thoughts and opinions. It was a wonderful experience and I pledge to continue my current work while continuing to listen and learn so that I will be even better able to represent the people of Somerville after the next city election in 2011.
Please take a few minutes view this important video about my experienes as a Somerville resident, parent, homeowner, local business owner, counselor, and community leader for the past 30 years. I believe that once you understand my "Somerville Story," you will agree that I have the knowledge and vision to be an Alderman for All Somerville.
Luis A. Morales
Brociner: A candidate with a different voice

Wicked Local Somerville
Somerville — Approximately 35 percent of all Somervillians were born in a foreign country.
An even higher percentage of residents speak a language other than English at home. Yet none of our elected officials are immigrants, nor are any of them even close to being fluent in another language. For a city that prides itself on being a model of tolerance and multiculturalism, something is wrong with this picture.
Come November, this may change. That’s because Luis Morales’ campaign for alderman-at-large is picking up more and more support with each passing week.
But when you ask Morales if his main reason for running for the Board of Aldermen is to bring greater diversity to city government, he makes it crystal clear that his overriding goal is to represent the interests of all Somervillians — both in the city’s neighborhoods as well as up at City Hall.
Luis Morales Announces Opposition to New Somerville Parking Regulations, Calls For Comprehensive Review of Citywide Traffic Impacts
Somerville, August 24 -- Luis Morales today announced his strong opposition to the new parking regulations recently implemented by the Somerville Traffic Board.
"I stand against these changes which could devastate our local economy," said Morales, "and I join the many Somerville residents in calling for these rules to be immediately rescinded. As one of many of the small business owners who are the heart and soul of our local economy, I feel these changes were put in place with little or no consultation and little or no consideration for the local business that help our city thrive.”
Morales believes that Somerville is fortunate to have a diverse and vibrant local business community which has established the city as a regional entertainment and cultural destination. This provides great benefit to the city in terms of local employment and tax revenue to fund critical city programs and services.
